Making friends
Life in the valleyTalk, give gifts and hear their stories. What each villager loves, and what friends get.
Who you can befriend
Everyone in the village (Tiberius, Mira, Rill, Vesper, Sable, Bramble and Pico), the two storytellers (Dr. Fernwhistle and Seraphine) and the keeper of each land's towns. All the towns of one land share the same keeper, so a friend in one town is a friend in all of them.
Talk to someone and look under their words: four hearts show how good friends you are.
How to grow a friendship
- Say hello every day. Your first chat of the day with each friend gives 8 points.
- Give one gift a day. Press Give a gift in the chat and pick something from your satchel. Something they love gives 45 points, something they like 25, anything else 10, and something they don't like just 3. After you give something, the gift window remembers what they thought of it.
- Hear their story to the end. Finishing a storyline a friend tells you gives 100 points.
Missing a day never costs you anything. There is no rush.
Each villager's loves and likes are on the villagers page. A good guess: think about who they are. The alchemist loves glowing spores, the fox of the desert loves dates, and the parrot loves fruit!
What friends get
| Rank | Points | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Acquaintance | 50 | They tell you something about themselves the first time you talk each day. |
| Friend | 150 | A present, and their shop sells to you for a little less. |
| Good friend | 300 | They teach you their special treat: a recipe nobody else can teach you. |
| Best friend | 500 | Their framed portrait, to hang on a wall at home. |
Every reward comes once. Festivals in the village make every villager like you a little more too (see Festivals).
