Deep Serpent
Mini-bossSailors called it a sea serpent. Maybe they had met an oarfish. Read the tale
Field notes
Sailors' stories are full of sea serpents; the real animals behind them were probably oarfish, which can grow longer than a bus.
Where it lives
Deep water (more than 2.5 m) in any realm whose water is not frozen or molten, near the bottom. It follows divers up and down. Seen from level 12. Its level depends on where you meet it: at home, how far from the village you are; on the other lands, that land's band, lowest near the harbour side. It is stronger at night. Stronger ones are called Murky Deep Serpent (level 15+), Deep Deep Serpent (level 40+), Elder Deep Serpent (level 80+).
How to calm it
Weak to (takes more): Earth +50%
Tough against (takes less): Energy −70%
Its attack: the sparks. It is steady (wind-up 0.9 s, then 2.2 s before the next).
Deep Serpents are weak to earth but shrug off energy. Watch for their sparks: step sideways when they glow, and the sparks fly past. They live in deep water: keep an eye on your air when you dive after them.
